Ingredients
- ½ cup uncooked long grain rice
- 1 pound ground beef
- 6 green bell peppers
- 1 cup water
- 16 ounces tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 ½ cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Instructions
FIRST STEP:
Preheat the oven to 350*
Remove the core and innards of the peppers
SECOND STEP:
Place the peppers in a lightly sprayed baking dish, with the open tops up. Cut a little off the bottom if needed to get them to stand
Prebake the peppers covered with foil, for 30 minutes
THIRD STEP:
In a skillet, crumble and brown the ground beef.
Place the water and rice into a saucepan and allow to come to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until rice is done, adding water if needed.
FOURTH STEP:
In a bowl, combine the cooked rice, cooked beef, 1 can of the tomato sauce and the seasonings. Stir to combine well
Spoon the filling equally into each of the peppers
FIFTH STEP:
Pour the remaining can of tomato sauce over the peppers
Bake for one hour, basting the peppers once or twice
SIXTH STEP:
Sprinkle with the shredded cheese in the last 10 minutes, or just long enough for the cheese to melt.
Serve with breadsticks or dinner rolls and enjoy!
